VARIABLE AND CONTROLS
-Scientists design experiments in much the same way. They take great care to make sure only one factor in the experiment, the indepent variable, is changed. The independent variable in your experiment is the brand of sports drink. The factor that changes as a result of the independent varible is called dependent variable.

 The dependent variable in your experiment is the mass of dry material. Controls are factors that are kept the same, providing a basis for comparision. Controls in your experiment are the identical jars, amount of drink, and the temparature of the plate.
